I picked this book up after reading about Mudear and the hilarious characters of Mulberry in “Ugly Ways. Still one of my favorites. Hart 4 Birth, Veil, and Tea Where we begin to diverge from the black-and-white analyses of the gina and story, the real argument of the paper follows.

Hence, Lena is plagued by ghosts and demons. She attends school and is able to form friendships quickly, but the unfortunate aspect of her ghost visions leads her to be ostracized among her classmates, especially the girls.
Now you got to claim what is yours. And we can see that even though she is only three years old, the gift of her caul has given her a surprisingly powerful intellect that allows her to almost narrate to herself the strange events she witnesses.
Bennett uses these to remind us famuly that historical aspect and to highlight the straightforwardness of her message. I’m not sure I really liked it, but I did appreciate getting a better understanding of African American culture around that time period. Ansa launched an independent publishing company, DownSouth Press, with a focus on African-American literature. At last we can rest easy knowing that Lena has flourished into oof proud, hopeful woman and has escaped the influence of her mother.
